With the price of audio recordings today, there?s absolutely nothing like free music. Free MP3 music has been all the rage, heightening music-mania all over the world. Of course there have been some controversies involving the questionable legality of peer-to-peer sharing of free MP3 files, e.g. the issue on Napster, but all that has been remedied when intellectual property laws were modified to cover copyrighted materials online. So now, sharing free MP3 music and downloading them from legal websites is completely legit.

However, people who don?t find their favorite song on any song list of free MP3 ringtones, there is a way you can still get that MP3 ringtone they want. This is because today there is software that you can use, which allows you to convert songs from your CD into MP3 ringtones. If you are a Windows user, the first thing you need to do is to download and install software like Audacity and Lame into your computer. After doing so, you then need to insert the CD of the song you want and open the Windows Media Player. In the console, click on the Rip button and rip the specific song you want to convert into MP3 format. The next step is to open the file using the Audacity program and to edit it or cut is depending on the portion of the song that you want to be your ringtone. After this, export the selected portion as a WAV file. The last step is to open the file using the Lame program, click the encode button you have a ringtone to install on your phone.

LOST in the hazy memories of my youth is a vague recollection of buying vinyl records to play on our second-hand Pioneer turntable. The music store I frequented, now long gone, was called Carousel, and the thing I remembered most about this pleasant, air-conditioned haven was that it had a listening booth where you could check out the songs on an album before you bought it.

You probably avoid a few processes whose names mean nothing to you, but they?re essential to Windows. svchost.exe sure likes to appear all the time and multiple times at that. What?s taskmgr.exe? Oh yeah, it?s the window you?re looking at right now. ctfmon? Is he related to Pokemon? navapsvc.exe? Navy? Napa Valley? Navel? NOTA (none of the above).

Gone, unfortunately are the days of Napster and other primal search engines that allowed every college underclassman to seamlessly infiltrate an Internet stuffed like a turkey with smorgasbord music, movies and media items, and allow them to listen or view on their own computer.

There is nothing illegal about peer-to-peer networks, and nothing illegal with using them to distribute files. What is illegal is to use these networks and associated software to download material which is protected by copyright. It is not always obvious what is still copyright protected, though you can be fairly certain that anything recent, such as recent chart hits or new computer games, cannot be legally copied using P2P software. Blockbuster films will also be copyright protected, but there are many films which have been specifically made for free distribution.

Whether you just got a new iPod or are an old-time user, there are always new things you will discover about that little gadget. Downloading video to your iPod is not as straight-forward for a newbie, and even those who have been using iPod for a while. Essentially, your iPod can support 2 video formats, H.264 video and MPEG-4 video. An important question many folks perhaps including you would ask ? so which one is better? On the surface, H.264 appears to be better than MPEG-4 because of the crystal clear picture quality. It also takes much lesser space than MPEG-4. This simply means that you can pack more videos and music into your iPod if you use this video format. There are some who would argue that both formats are equally excellent in terms of picture quality when the encoding is done at higher supported video settings.

A friend told me: "My computer startup seems to be taking a long time. And when the hard disk finally stops churning, everything just seems slower than when it was new. Can you suggest any maintenance tips to reduce the startup time and make Windows run faster?" I have this theory that sludge builds up inside a computer over time, much like an automobile engine. After a while, it doesn't start right up like when it was new, it stalls unexpectedly, and performance is sluggish on the (information) highway. Is there something like engine cleaner we can pour into our personal computer to restore that "like new" performance? Actually, yes!

Other phones just use plain ringtones, and are usually not customizable. Mobile phone manufacturers originally designed mobile phones with customizable ringtones so that you could easily tell if if it was your phone ringing when you're with a group of people. Things change though, and mobile phone ringtones are now much more than a convenience ? they are an art form, even a fashion statement (?I'm cooler than you 'cause my ringtone is cooler than yours...?).

Today's so-called reality shows are too staged for my taste. Their contrived situations and semi-scripted actions actually render them somewhat less than real. For unvarnished reality, try listening to a police scanner. You'll hear real cops answering real crime calls. You'll hear police officers as they head into potentially dangerous situations. You'll hear police dispatchers as they try to keep up with everything from fender benders to shootings--all in a standard night's work for many police departments.

MP3 stands for MPEG layer 3 audio, where MPEG stands for a form of compression used both in video and audio. The reason why compression is used, why not just capture digitally? The reason is size, in this case, size of captured files is a WAV file (the standard for CD) which produces massive files which even with the event of broadband connections are just too big, for example a 1 minute file equates to 10mb of storage.

I was a little skeptical at first, maybe it was a scam website, or some kind of joke. I did some searching around and found that it is indeed all that it offers, tons of music at low, low prices. So I made a few selections and found the download speeds to be quite fast as well, the shopping cart keeps your choices and you can download anytime you want. I was personally getting 5 songs at time to download, and then listened very closely for errors. That is the latest ploy for the people who download music, to get corrupted files, but no bad songs, all good stuff here.

The first thing anyone learns about the MP3 audio format is that it is based on a lossy compression algorithm. Lossy compression means that in order to reduce the file size some of the original audio has been removed which inherently reduces the fidelity of the recording. How much data is removed during the compression process is a based on a combination of factors including user preference, portability requirements, available disk space, etc. In the case of an MP3 download the user little control over how much fidelity has been removed from the audio source.

A prominent study suggests that Canadians between the ages of 12 and 24 account for 78 percent of illegal MP3 downloads.
As this only account for 21 percent of Canada's population, it seems painfully obvious where the blame lies. The study was conducted by the Canadian Recording Industry Association.

One of the most important tasks in online selling, and indeed in all selling, is to convince the prospective buyer that you are someone who can be trusted. A nice picture of yourself in your ?about? section is helpful, but even more convincing would be a heartfelt audio message in which you explain yourself and introduce your product or service. If you are thinking that installing a sound capability on your website would be beyond your technical or financial means then I think you will change your mind after you finish reading this article.

Streaming video is a sequence of "moving images" that are sent in compressed form over the Internet and displayed by the viewer as they arrive. Streaming media is streaming video with sound. With streaming video or streaming media, a Web user does not have to wait to download a large file before seeing the video or hearing the sound. Instead, the media is sent in a continuous stream and is played as it arrives. The user needs a player, which is a special program that uncompresses and sends video data to the display and audio data to speakers. A player can be either an integral part of a browser or downloaded from the software maker's Web site.

The first recorded music was heard thanks to the phonograph - Thomas Edison's first functional one being presented in December 1877 - of course like all new inventions there were many others who could claim the title of being the first of invent to phonograph but of course Edison ended up being the most well known (compare Edison's fame to that of a true genius like Nikola Tesla)

Before television, before the Internet, before DVDs and video games, families gathered around a big box in the living room to listen to gripping dramas, spine-chilling mysteries, uproarious comedies and stirring live musical performances. The box offered no pictures to its audience; it was all theatre of the mind--but what theatre it was!
